Only One Way To Be Saved

Must we be so narrow about it?

We believe only those who have Jesus as Lord and Savior are saved and will go to heaven. We say there is no other way. We teach that no other religion or belief system will lead anyone to eternal life. We say Jesus is the only way. We neither flex nor give ground on our doctrine of salvation.

But must we be so restrictive?

Many people, among them Christians and former Christians, insist that it is pride, arrogance, control, and insensitivity that cause us to be so narrow. They declare that God, being as reasonable and fair as He is, would surely not make salvation so difficult. They insist that several ways exist, not just one. They want to make room for Judaism, Taoism, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism to also take us to heaven.

So must we be so restrictive?

Yes!

And the causes are not pride, arrogance, control, and insensitivity. No. What moves us to such a narrow view is the reality of what God Himself has established. We aren't the ones being narrow so much as it is He. Notice just several statements from His Word.

"He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him" (John 3:36).

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" (John 14:6).

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12).

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5).

"And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John 5:11,12).

Is anyone left out?

Yes. Millions have not, do not, and will not enter into the kingdom of heaven. They end up in everlasting condemnation because they did not yield to the Lord Jesus. That's the only reason. It is so tragic! Especially when God has, with this simple proclamation, made salvation so simple: "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).

I ask you, are you left out right now? If Jesus isn't your Savior and Lord, then you must acknowledge, "Yes, I am left out." But don't let it rest at that! I urge you to accept Jesus into your life. Nothing else you do and no other route you try will result in your eternal salvation. There is no other way.

Whose fault?

If you and I, knowing the Way, are left out, that is our fault. But what about those who do not yet know the way? If they are left out, whose fault is it?
