Do Not Trust in Trump Nor Count on Courts Nor Lean on Legislatures Nor Hope in Howitzers

How to trust and not be afraid when goodness, honor, integrity, justice, kindness, and lawfulness are gone

Society is fraying about us. The culture is rotting. The nation’s fabric is coming apart. The institutions of stability are tottering. The foundations are crumbling. The bastions have been bastardized. The darkness deepens. An ill wind blows. And it’s so alarmingly frigid out there.

And fear chills the heart, gnaws the nerves, and jellies the spine.

Well, did I echo anything in your soul?

If you are already done with the bleak negativity, click here to skip down to hope, reassurance, and a clear way forward and upward.

Who in power do you trust? In whom are you planting your hope?

Perhaps you have learned not to count on anyone who has John in his name somewhere. You have had bitter experiences with the likes of John Durham, John Roberts, John Boehner, John McCain, John… It’s enough to leave you jaundiced and John-dissing.

Maybe your full faith and trust and confidence is in President Trump. Or in the Supreme Court or the US House of Representatives or in the American people themselves.

You think you know not to count on the FBI, the DOJ, the CIA, and the DNI. That makes you leery of the DOD, the JCS, and the DJF. You’re no longer so sure about Barr and ACB, but maybe, just maybe, Sidney Powell and Ted Cruz and Samuel Alito and that Texas AG can save the day (and the national bacon and the Constitution and the Republic). And if that cavalry all turns out to be a mere military parade just horsing around and lets you down as well, maybe the generals and their patriot troops will arrive just in the knickering of time to uphold the Constitution, establish law and order and justice, and just generally make things right again.

Ah, yes, the military (or citizen militias). That brings to mind other institutions that you might yet depend on: laws, constitutions, courts, judges, justices, legislatures, attorneys general, county sheriffs…

But when you quit playing mind games with yourself or relying on your emotions, you are left with this stark reality: justice, lawfulness, truth, due process, rights, equity, courage, integrity, honesty, honor, righteousness, and goodness are…

  • gone or vanishing in American politics, justice, law, and life generally.
  • under siege or in retreat in churches and other Christian institutions.
  • suspect or absent in individuals.

When the GHIJKLs (goodness, honor, integrity, justice, kindness, lawfulness) are gone, it’s time to trust and not be afraid. But if you’re late to that God-focused perspective, take it on now before it’s truly too late.

“Our soul waiteth for the LORD:
he is our help and our shield”
(Psalm 33:20).
“Put not your trust…
in whom there is no help.”
(Psalm 146:3).
“But we will remember
the name of the LORD our God”
(Psalm 20:7).

Before you, the Red Sea. On either side, towering mountains. Behind you and closing in fast, the enemy. And there you stand, defenseless?

Believe ye that I am able to do this? (Matthew 9:28)
Believe ye that I am able to do this? (Matthew 9:28)

Trust in the Lord Jehovah!

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee (Psalm 56:3)
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee (Psalm 56:3)
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness (Psalm 112:4)
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness (Psalm 112:4)
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness (Psalm 112:4)
Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness (Psalm 112:4)

“Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD” (Jeremiah 17:5).

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7).

“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish” (Psalm 146:3,4).

“There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength” (Psalm 33:16).

“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood… Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Ephesians 6:11-13).

“For the kingdom is the Lord’s: and he is the governor among the nations” (Psalm 22:28).

And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee (Psalm 9:10)
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee (Psalm 9:10)

Now watch and be ready. Watch and pray. And go in the name of the Lord.
